Using cultural criticism to analyze the stories in this course illustrates the way in which studying culture can be greatly beneficial, despite a definite methodology of the field. Analyzing themes such as expectations, identity, and values is undeniably an important part of studying any literature in general. But studying expectations, identity, and values through a cultural theory lens creates new ways of thinking and opens space for those marginalized in the dominant discourse to have a voice.
Culture is an important part of life, shaping the way we think, feel, and act. Studying different cultures and their different beliefs and ideals about the world can help move us to a place of better understanding between all peoples. |
